Very Brief Blog: AI and Senate Auto Transcript and Auto Summary

Here's a brief highlight of AI in action.  This week, the Senate held a 90 minute hearing on antibiotic resistance and a bill called the Pasteur Act that aims to improve the situation.   Senate here.

I made an mp3 recording of the Senate audio and uploaded it to Otter.ai, a subscription service that makes "auto transcripts," which aren't perfect, but are pretty good.

New to me, Otter.ai now adds an auto summary of the transcript, in bullet point format.

Cost

Otter.ai pricing per month on an ANNUAL subscription.  There's an intro free level (3 files per lifetime).  Pro is $8.33 per month and gives 1200 minutes (20 hrs) or 10 files per month.  Business is $20 per month and gives 6000 minutes (100 hrs), each up to 4 hrs long, any number of files.

Other Options

I also have a subscription to ChatGPT.  You could take the OTTER transcript (here, 15,000 words0 and upload it manually to ChatGPT in about 7 parts of about 2000 words each (I used this splitter.)   Then you can ask ChatGPT to summarize the meeting in memo format, or other formats, and/or ask it questions about the content.   I used exactly this method quite a bit, with direct ChatGPT output, to analyze Medicare's several documents on "TCET" a week ago - here.
