There's been a boom in more accurate lab tests in neurodegenerative disease - both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's - and quite a few CPT codes in this space. But it's been "crickets" in terms of Medicare coverage policies.
Details are pending, but the Noridian MAC plans an advisor workshop (a "CAC") on the topic on August 20, 2026. Potentially that could precede an LCD a few quarters later.

Request for Volunteers for a Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC)
We are seeking volunteers to participate as Subject Matter Experts for a planned joint Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting scheduled for August 20, 2026.
The meeting will focus on laboratory tests used in the evaluation of Neurodegenerative Disorders.
We are specifically seeking CAC members with expertise in the following areas:
- Methodologists who can review and discuss the methodological quality of studies
- Researchers specializing in neurodegenerative disorders
- Neurologists
- Neuropathologists
- Neuroradiologists
- Primary care physicians who manage patients with suspected or documented neurodegenerative disorders
- Patient advocates with experience in chronic or neurodegenerative diseases
