South America: COVID Precautions Dent COVID, but Wipe Out Influenza

We've heard that this fall and winter may be a crisis, because we'll have COVID hospitalizations on top of the normal influenza hospitalizations.

Some good news from South America, where it's mid winter now.   See data from Chile below; the flu season there is almost zero.   I think the take-home lesson is, with COVID precautions you still get COVID, hopefully "bending the curve."  But the same precautions hammer the influenza virus out of the population.
