MolDx to Hold National Workshop on Pharmacogenomics for Medicare; June 26, 1-4 ET

Under new 2019 rules, MACs are encouraged to hold Contractor Advisory Committee or CAC panels on topics of upcoming policy interest, and featuring guest expert speakers.   The meetings are available for webinar viewing by the public, and will be archived along with transcripts.

(If anyone thinks these sound more like CMS MEDCAC meetings, you're right.)

The MolDX MACs will hold a national CAC webinar meeting on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, from 1-4 pm ET, on the topic of pharmacogenomics.   Potentially, if I understand the rules, non-MolDx MACs would have the opportunity to co-sponsor the meeting if they want to.

A more complete agenda will be posted by June 12, and registration must be completed by June 19.

It's unclear from the announcement if the focus will be on psychiatric PGx gene panels or PGx clinical utility in general.

The purpose of the meeting is to obtain advice from CAC members and subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding the strength of published evidence on Pharmacogenomic testing. In addition to discussion, the CAC and SME panel will vote on pre-distributed questions related to the strength of the evidence. The public is invited to attend as observers yet will not be able to actively participate during this time.
CAC members are asked to be prepared to discuss the role of pharmacogenomic testing as it relates to the selection of individualized pharmaceuticals in the care of the Medicare beneficiary. While CAC panels do not make coverage determinations, the MACs significantly benefit from their advice and guidance.
A participant Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure Statement, policy background material and tentative questions will be posted on each participating MAC’s website. The agenda (including final questions and teleconference details) will be posted by June 12, 2019. All participants in the meeting must complete and submit a COI Disclosure Statement to Moldx@palmettogba.com by close of business June 19, 2019 and will need to declare any relevant COI verbally prior to speaking.
